Yes. We print in food-safe PLA and every cutter is intended for direct contact with dough. Worth knowing though: 3D printed surfaces have microscopic ridges that can hold onto bacteria more than smooth steel does. Treat them like a wooden chopping board - wash before and after use, and do not leave dough sitting in them overnight.

No, and this is the one that catches people out. PLA starts to soften at around 55°C and a dishwasher runs far hotter than that, so your cutter will come out warped and will not cut cleanly again.

Hand wash in warm - not hot - water with a soft brush, then air dry. Takes about twenty seconds.

Three things, in order of how much they matter:

1. Chill your dough. Warm dough is the cause of almost every soft, blurry imprint.
2. Roll to 4-5mm. Thinner and the detail has nowhere to sit; thicker and the shape spreads as it rises.
3. Press once, firmly. Pressing repeatedly shifts the stamp and doubles the lines.

Chilling the cut shapes again for ten minutes before they go in the oven is the difference between good and very good.

Every set is two parts per character. The outer ring cuts the shape out of the dough; the inner stamp presses the face and detail into it. Cut first, then stamp the shape while it is still on the bench.

No - that is rather the point. The embossed detail reads perfectly well on a plain baked biscuit, so you get a recognisable character without piping a single line. Icing is a bonus, not a requirement.

Dough is too warm or too wet. Chill it properly, and dust the cutter with a little flour between presses. If it is still sticking, your recipe is probably on the wet side - add flour a spoonful at a time.

Each listing gives the cut height and width in the specifications, and most sets include a photograph with a measurement overlay. Most are around 7-9cm tall.

You have 14 days from delivery to tell us, and you do not need a reason. Faulty or wrong items are our problem and we cover the postage. Custom and personalised cutters are the exception - once cut they have no other buyer. Full terms on the returns page.
