Custom cutters

Names, logos, pets, club badges, wedding dates. If it works as a bold outline, it works as a cutter.

How it works

  1. Send your idea

    A reference image, a sketch on the back of an envelope, or just a description. The clearer the image, the closer the finished cutter.

  2. We quote

    Usually within 1-2 working days. Custom cutters start at £12 for a single shape; sets are quoted per piece and work out cheaper each.

  3. You approve a preview

    We send you the design before anything is printed. Changes at this stage are free - changes after it is printed are a new cutter.

  4. We print and post

    Allow 5-7 working days from the moment you approve the design.

What works well

  • Names and monograms - birthdays, christenings, place settings.
  • Logos and club badges - corporate bakes, football teams, scout groups.
  • Pet silhouettes - a recognisable outline of a specific dog or cat.
  • Wedding dates and initials - favours and dessert tables.
  • Simple line illustrations - anything with a clear closed outline.

What does not

Better to know now than after you have paid:

  • Very fine detail. Anything thinner than about 1mm will not survive the bake - the dough rises and closes it up. We will simplify it and show you before printing.
  • Photographs, directly. A photo has to become a line drawing first. We can do that conversion, and it is included in the quote, but a photo is not a design on its own.
  • Shapes with thin projecting bits. Long thin tails, antennae and stick legs snap off the cutter and tear the dough. We will thicken them.
  • Anything much over 12cm. Large cutters flex in the middle and stop cutting cleanly.

Artwork you do not own

If you send us a design that belongs to someone else, we will make it as a one-off for your own personal use, but we will not list it publicly or make it again for anyone else.

Before you order

Custom cutters are exempt from the 14-day right to cancel, because a cutter with your name on it has no other buyer. That is why we send a preview and wait for your approval - please do check it properly, including the spelling.

If a custom cutter arrives faulty or does not match the design you approved, that is on us and we will replace it. See the returns page.
